THE CLERK OF COURT

Vernon H. Rodrigue has been employed in the Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court’s office since 1960. He has worked in all departments of the Clerk’s office including:


• Recording land documents and mortgages along with making photo copies

• Filing land documents, mortgage documents, charging for the filing and   making daily deposits

• Charging the court costs in the civil and probate suits department and issuing    refund checks

• Minute Clerk of Court, swearing in witnesses, arraigning defendants,    preparing Court minutes, and issuing notices

• Deputy Clerk of Court in charge of and supervising the Civil, Criminal, and   Probate departments, along with issuing civil notices

• Chief Deputy Clerk of Court, supervising the entire office, while handling the    payroll, budget, insurance, and all administrative paperwork

• Helped conduct all elections in the parish, including the tabulation of votes    and the instruction of election commissioners who work at the polls

• Deputy Clerk of Court in charge of the Mortgage Department, where he    handled all mortgage matters including mortgages certificates

On October 19th, 1991, Vernon H. Rodrigue was elected as the Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court and took office on July 1, 1992. Since then, Vernon has been re-elected to the Clerk of Court’s office in 1995, 1999, 2003, and again in 2007.
